About me

I’m a Machine Learning Engineer at Twitter where I work on tweet and account recommendations. In particular, I build candidate generation for product surfaces such as the Home Timeline, Notification, Email and Who-To-Follow. Previously, I was a Data Scientist/Computer Vision engineer at Grab, building OCR systems for the Know-Your-Customers product flow.

When I was in academic, I researched on fake news detection under Prof. Jing Jiang at Singapore Management University. Before that, I was a Software Engineer at Bank of America Merrill Lynch working on ETL systems using Scala and Spark in the Reference Data team.

I graduated with First Class Honours in Computer Science with a focus in Information Systems and a minor in Mathematics from Nanyang Technological University in 2016. Motivated to learn more, I took a part-time Master of Computing with Artificial Intelligence specialization from National University of Singapore, and graduated in 2022.

My interests lie in Deep Learning and the intersection with Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision and Recommendations.

Fun facts

I was fortunate enough to have piano lessons since very young. Because of that, I’ve developed huge interest in music, especially musical instruments. Besides piano, I’ve also picked up guitar, harp, drum and violin. I used to be a Section Leader in a Harp Ensemble, as well as a guitarist/keyboarder/cajon-er in an acoustic band.
